“Look Twice, Save A Life. Motorcycles are Everywhere.”

There’s a reason you’ve seen this slogan on bumper stickers and t-shirts.  Motorcycles aren’t as big or as noticeable as cars or trucks.  If you’re not paying attention, it’s easy to miss them.  And when a motorcycle and a car or truck get into an accident, the motorcycle loses.

Our lawyers represent motorcycle riders injured in accidents in Atlanta and throughout Georgia.  We’ve successfully prosecuted cases against drivers who injure motorcycle riders and have helped them recover medical bills, lost wages and compensation for pain and suffering.  We also represent the families of motorcycle riders who have been killed in accidents and help those families recover compensation for the loss of their loved one.

Motorcycle wrecks usually result in serious injuries to the motorcycle rider because a motorcycle provides little to no protection in a crash even if the motorcycle driver is wearing a helmet and protective clothing.  According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 80% of motorcycle accidents involve death or injuries compared to only 20% of car wrecks.  Further, a person driving a motorcycle is 35 times more likely to be involved in a deadly crash than a person driving a car.

Many people and even some police officers stereotype motorcycle drivers as dangerous and reckless and assume that if there’s an accident the motorcycle driver must be at fault.  However, the Hurt study, a major scientific study into the causes of motorcycle accidents, found that two-thirds of wrecks involving motorcycles and cars were caused by the car, not the motorcycle.  It also found that the main cause of motorcycle accidents was the driver of a car’s failure to see and recognize a motorcycle.
